Are pets a problem for an alarm system?

No. Most of our security systems use pet immunity detectors that allow for most animals weighing less than 40 pounds to wander around the home without setting off the alarm. Pets that weigh more than 40 pounds may require a detector upgrade.
These motion detectors can be adjusted, depending on the size of your pet. When you order these motion detectors, our installer can help you test the effectiveness of the motion detectors in order to make sure they are properly calibrated for your pet.

Are there recurring costs for a home security system?

A monitored system will cost you a monthly fee that will range from $25 to well over $50, depending on the options you choose. There are also differences in the reliability and type of monitoring.

Call us today for your free onsite no-obligation security review and audit.

Back-up Communications

Since most of the monitored systems use a regular phone line for the purpose of communicating with the monitoring station, it is possible to interrupt monitored alarm systems by cutting the telephone wires before you enter the premise. If your phone line is cut, our station will not receive any signal from your system. If you’re wondering what would happen if someone cut the telephone line, there are many ways to add “line security” to your system.

Aban uses the most popular methods today—GSM radio technology, as the main or back-up communication method. We also use IP (internet protocol) as another option to monitor your system. When you have a backup system, you are protected even when your phone line is cut.

If the phone line is cut, the alarm system will still communicate wirelessly with the monitoring station, via a cellular network. A monitored alarm system can have an audible delay, to give the monitoring station time to notify the police in the anticipation of catching the criminals on the premises.

Alarm systems can incorporate visual verification of an intruder on the premises by sending additional signals to the monitoring station.

It is important to remember that all businesses are unique and will require different security measures. We encourage you to discuss your options with your chosen security company, Aban Security.

Benefits of Medical Emergency Alarm Systems?

When you subscribe to our medical emergency system and an emergency arises in which help is needed quickly, you can call for help by pressing a button on your medical pendant. Someone will be sent quickly without your even having to dial 911. Please see the medical emergency section of our website.

Can a security system do more than guard my home from burglars?

Today’s security systems have matured to the point of home automation. Fire, smoke and carbon monoxide detection are very common, and thermostat and lighting controls are available in many systems. Communication technologies and the internet allow monitoring and complete home control from anywhere in the world.

Can ABAN monitor water flow?

Yes. Aban also can install its own water flow detection device that monitors your water main and will shut the water off if it detects any leaks.

Can I get a security system if I rent my home?

Absolutely. Most home security systems are not set up for renters. However, in most cases we would require permission from your landlord prior to installation. A better option is to simply buy a wireless home security system that can be installed without any drilling.

Can I have a temporary password for my house guest?

Yes, Go to Aban’s website and submit the appropriate form with your name, account number and current password. You may now add the guest’s temporary information such as guest’s name, password and duration of their stay.

Can I leave my agreement early?

No. Because our pricing model bundles our equipment and service offerings over the duration of a service agreement as an alternative to paying significantly more upfront, we maintain an agreement with each customer to help recoup our investment in the equipment and services provided. We evaluate this matter case-by-case and make a determination.

Can I monitor my existing security system?

Yes, you can. Many people move into a home that already has a security system in place and they would like to have the system monitored without getting a whole new system. Aban can service and monitor most well known security system brands. Please contact our office and we will arrange to meet with you and have your system monitored on a short notice.

Can I use my system when I am home?

Absolutely! We install systems that allow you to arm the windows and doors at night to keep you protected while you are at home. This feature turns off all motion detectors to allow you to freely roam wherever you want.

Can my security system detect flooding?

Yes it can. Every year, water damage causes billions of dollars in damages. In the event that you have flooding in your home, from a broken pipe or a natural disaster, your security system will detect the flooding and will be able to warn you.

Can my security system monitor Carbon monoxide?

Carbon monoxide is also called a silent killer. Carbon monoxide alarms can be monitored as part of your security system. In the event that there are high carbon monoxide levels in your home, they will be able to warn you. This is important since some people don’t even realize they are in danger.

Can my security system monitor fire and smoke?

A home security system is also able to monitor for smoke/fire detection. In the event of a fire at your home, the proper authorities will be notified. Aban offers heat and smoke detectors for your fire protection.

Can my security system monitor temperature?

Our security systems can also monitor the low and high temperatures in a number of areas inside your home and alert you if the temperature becomes critically low or high. This will alert you if there is a chance that your pipes may freeze.

Do I have any warranty on my system?

All the systems Aban installs have a one-year parts and labour warranty. This warranty only applies to normal wear and tear on your system.

If your system was installed by another company, but was inspected, tested and is monitored by Aban, then we will extend our warranty to you for a period of one year.

Do I have to sign a monitoring agreement?

Yes. The contract will define what we offer and what our responsibilities are to you as well as for how long we will offer you our services. It also defines what your responsibilities are. Since we provide discounted or free equipment to some of our customers, we will require a contract.

Do you enforce your code of conduct?

Aban takes the code of conduct very seriously and has even terminated individuals whose behavior was not consistent with our high standards of customer interaction and regulatory compliance.

Does a DSL line affect my security system?

Home security systems with digital dialer capability are often connected to your phone line for monitoring purposes. Your phone line comes from the phone provider, goes into your alarm system and returns and gets distributed to your phone jacks.

When a DSL line and the alarm line are on the same line, the DSL signal adds noise to the phone line and must be filtered by your phone company prior to joining the alarm system. If left unfiltered, the alarm system will not achieve a clean connection for its communication.

If you have your alarm system monitored, do not put your alarm panel in series with your incoming ADSL line. The phone and DSL line must be filtered (separated by a DSL filter) before it can be used reliably by your alarm system.

Does a security company cover any losses from a break-in?

No. Your homeowner’s insurance covers any losses beyond your deductible. The good news about insurance is that you’ll get a discount on your premium after a security system is installed!

Does Aban have a code of conduct?

Yes. Aban has a strict code of conduct by which all employees, technicians, and Security Consultants must adhere. We also operate under the CANASA (Canadian Alarm and Security Association) code of ethics to ensure the highest level of standards are not only met but also exceeded. To obtain a copy of our code of conduct, visit our website.

Does Aban install wireless equipment?

Wired systems are more reliable and yet somewhat invasive as wires would need to be run throughout the interior walls of your home or otherwise hidden away.

Installing quality wireless security equipment that uses today’s wireless technology allows us to have a reliable system that meets the standards of wired equipment, but with no damage to the home.

Does having a visible security system help to reduce unwanted break-ins?

Installing a security system is one of the key security options that help reduce the possibility of such an undesirable occurrence. Burglars don’t like security systems, so when they come across a home with one installed, they prefer to go elsewhere.

Does my monitoring work if the phone line is cut?

If you are using a back-up system such as GSM radio, your security system uses the GSM to communicate with our monitoring station wirelessly.

Does my security system save me money?

Yes. Not only will a home security system add value to your property, but it will also save you from between 10 and 20 percent on your homeowner’s insurance under most policies, depending on your insurance carrier.

Does my security system work if there is a loss of power?

Yes. Systems come with a back-up battery that will run the system for several hours. Your system would send Aban’s monitoring station an AC failure signal. Once the battery is low, another signal will be transmitted to the monitoring station and you will be notified to take proper precautions.

Does my security system work with the Shaw phone line?

Yes. The Shaw phone is compatible with your alarm system.

Please note that while your security system uses a battery backup during a lengthy power outage, your Shaw phone does not, unless you have a good UPS to support it.

Does my security system work with VoIP line (internet phone line)?

In most cases, no. In cases where it does work, it is not reliable. To monitor your alarm system, all VoIP users should hold onto their regular land-lines in order to have reliable monitoring. The other concern is that VoIP will not function during a power outage, so even while the security system has a battery backup, your home networking probably does not, unless you have a good UPS. If you must use a VoIP line, we offer alternative means of communication such as GSM radio or an internet communication option.

Due to the increasing popularity of VoIP, this is likely to change in the future. Some companies are introducing devices that will make your system work with VoIP, but so far these don’t seem to be as reliable as we want them to be. You may soon see it as an option offered by both communications providers and by us.

Does security alarm system have any effect on my insurance?

One great benefit of having a home security system is getting cheaper rates on your homeowner’s insurance. To most insurance companies, the use of electronic security systems are a further means of protecting your property and therefore they will often offer you discounts. Informing your homeowner’s insurance company that you have certain security measures in place can also save you roughly 10 to 20 percent on your homeowner’s policy.

Does security system add value to my property?

Having a security system already installed when you decide to sell your home may be a selling point that buyers will appreciate. An already-installed security alarm system increases the home’s value since the incoming owner will have less upgrading to do.

How a Monitored Security System Works?

All monitored security systems receive alarm signals from the detectors and devices (door or window contacts, motion detectors), setting off the siren. If the alarm is not deactivated, the system will transmit these signals to the monitoring station through the telephone line. Aban’s monitoring station will then verify the alarm by placing a call to your premises. You will be asked to identify yourself by providing us with a password. If the person answering the call cannot give a correct password or if there is no answer at the premise, the operator will politely end the conversation and move on to the next contact person and then dispatch the authorities if no one can be reached.

How can I find out why my phone line is not working?

All of our systems have their own special phone jack in the proximity of your system .

If you unplug this jack and your phone still does not work, you should contact your telephone provider for service. But if you unplug the alarm jack and your phone starts to work, please fill out the service request form or contact Aban Security.

How can I test my system?

Before attempting to test your system, call the Aban monitoring station and ask them to put your system on test. After doing that, you can now test your system and then check with the station which signals they received.

How do I choose a security provider?

Choosing a trustworthy, professional and competent security company can be difficult at first, but with diligence and planning, you will be able to choose a company that is reliable and efficient. Make sure to check with neighbors for suggestions, and always ask the company about their warranties for both products and service. It is also vital that the company carefully screens its installers and sales force, including thorough background checks. Once you have gone through this process, you will likely find Aban the best choice to provide you with quality, expertise, system design and value for your security system needs.

For more information on why choose Aban, please visit the “Why Aban Security?” page.

How do I know what to buy?

Always stay with reputable companies with proper licensing, technical and insurance requirements, and that have been around for a long time. They should also have an actual place of business that you can visit if necessary. We provide free onsite security evaluations and reviews and will make appropriate recommendations for your home or business.

How do I update my contact information and call list?

Go to Aban’s website and fill in the appropriate form. You may also update your call list by email, fax or mail-in the information. To do so, you will need to provide us with your account number and a valid password.

How does an alarm system fend off would-be burglars?

Approximately 90% of burglars would prefer to break into homes without security systems. These criminals want the easy way in; they don’t want to risk an alarm siren going off.

How expensive is a home security system?

The initial costs of home security equipment can range from nothing upfront to several hundreds of dollars, depending on the sophistication of the system that you choose, as well as the level of monitoring. It also depends on the system size, number(s) of equipment necessary, the features you want and whether you are buying the equipment or leasing it along with a monitoring agreement. However, the majority of our basic systems that are monitored are installed for under $200.

Aban will provide the basic equipment for a minimal fee when you sign a contract for the monitoring service and can install additional sensors and functionality for additional charges. Each window, door or other area of protection will generally cost more money.

How is a wireless security system different from a hardwire security system?

Wireless systems allow for ease of installation for finished homes and offices. Aban prefers to install a hardwire system for all new homes and most one-story homes and businesses. We only use wireless equipment when there is no attic accessibility to run the wiring. There is no difference in the operation of a wireless system compared to a traditional hardwire system.

How long does installation of an Aban Security System take?

Over 90% of our systems are installed within a week after they are ordered, and based on the equipment requested, installation typically takes about 4 to 8 hours.

How long does my panel battery usually last for?

Your answer goes here…Usually the battery lasts up to 4-5 years, depending how often it is used.

How long is the agreement?

Agreement length varies due to system size and other factors. However, the majority of our customers sign a 36-month agreement.

How often should I test my system?

You are responsible for testing your alarm system every month. Please refer to the back of your monitoring cards for instruction. If you detect a problem with your system, please contact our office through the website, email or by phone to make arrangements for service.

How to compare quotes for home security systems?

Give some consideration to what you may be looking for in a home security system. Once you begin the process, it is important to remain consistent when dealing with competing quotes, otherwise you will not be in a position to compare apples to apples. An onsite evaluation by the alarm company is recommended before an educated quote can be provided to you.

How to prevent false alarms?

The Aban monitoring station uses Enhanced Call Verification. We will try to get in touch with two or more of your contacts to confirm your alarm’s validity before issuing a dispatch. Municipalities that require Enhanced Call Verification have seen reductions of unnecessary law enforcement response by between 30 and 50 percent.

Get to know how your system works and how to use it. Avoid displaying objects that trigger your alarm. Watch for these pitfalls that may activate your alarm:

  • Unlocked or opened doors and windows—always keep doors and windows locked when the alarm is in the “ON” position, in order to reduce the chance that friends, neighbours or customers will enter and cause the alarm to activate
  • Unsupervised pets—if you have pets, take special care to purchase an alarm system       that is tolerant of pets. You may not want to purchase the basic motion detectors if your pets have free run of the house when the alarm is on. Buy pet friendly motion detectors
  • Balloons that move can cause motion sensors to go off
  • Drafts that move plants and curtains
  • Insects—keep flies, spiders and other insects clear of your motion detectors
  • Swinging doors or windows
  • Banners or signs
  • Plants or curtains caught in drafts
  • Stacked items such as boxes, which may fall, setting off motion detectors
  • Unsupervised guests
  • Untrained, unaware or uncaring employees
  • Alarm equipment, such as motion sensors or overhead door magnets, becoming     damaged

If going out of town, what should I do?

Go to Aban’s website and fill in the appropriate form. Be sure to provide us with the necessary information such as name, phone numbers and passwords and whether another individual will be staying at the property during your absence. This temporary contact information will then be used for the period of time that you will be away.

Insurance certificate

Almost every insurance company provides a substantial reduction on insurance premiums for homes and business owners who have their alarm systems monitored. When you activate your alarm system, we will forward an Alarm Monitoring Certificate to your insurance company in order to receive your premium discount.

Is a telephone line necessary?

Aban recommends a traditional phone line to communicate your alarm signal to our 24-hour ULC central monitoring station.

Is Aban a full service security provider?

Aban handles all aspects of our customers’ security needs, from installation and service to monitoring, account, technical, support and billing.

Is Aban properly licensed in all its sales and service areas?

Aban works in an extremely regulated industry. As such, we strive to be licensed properly in every area we work.

No phone line…No problem

Aban can monitor your home alarm system with our optional digital cellular communicator if you choose not to install a phone line. You can also install a cellular back-up system for added protection in the event of telephone service interruption or a cable cut. You can also monitor your system with an internet connection.

Should I notify Aban when I receive my permit number?

Yes, contact Aban’s office with your name, address and permit number.

What are barrier bars?

They protect particularly vulnerable areas of your business and create another security barrier against intruders. They are good deterrents against smash and grab situations.

What are door and window contacts?

There are many types of contacts designed for different applications. They are magnetic switches that, once your security systems have been armed, will cause the alarm to sound when a door or window is opened. We recommend that all accessible doors and windows at all levels, including windows near trees or shrubs, and windows that are dark or hidden from view, be contacted.

What are heat and smoke sensors?

These components detect smoke, fumes, rises in temperature and heat that are caused by a fire. They can be added to any burglar alarm system easily. A monitored smoke detector not only sounds an audible alarm, but also automatically sends a signal to our monitoring station.

What are the components of a security system?

The job of a security system is to secure your home or business and to deter and detect intruders. Most alarm systems include a control panel, keypads, door and window contacts, motion detectors, and a siren. We also offer other optional security devices such as remote keyfobs, glass break detectors and heat and smoke detectors, to name a few.

It is recommended that all outside entry points such as doors and windows be contacted .

In some cases, environmental detectors such as temperature sensors, water detectors or other devices are also installed.

What are the major causes of false alarms?

1- System user errors, More than 80 percent of all false alarms are caused by user errors.

Here are some of the reasons:

  • Inadequate training of users
  • Using incorrect alarm codes
  • Companies failing to train authorized users
  • Objects hanging close to motion detectors
  • Failure to secure unlocked or loose doors / windows
  • Children, neighbours and visitors
  • Cleaning crews, repairmen and pet sitters
  • Pets or other wildlife
  • Insects, such as spiders and flies

2- System design, installation and service errors

3- Equipment malfunction or failure, such as batteries that need to be replaced

4- Wrong equipment selection for the job

5- Unmaintained and outdated systems

What are the penalties associated with violating Aban’s code of conduct?

Penalties for violating the code of conduct vary and are based on the severity of the violation, but can range from small fines up to and including termination.

What can you do before activating your system?

There are easy steps you and your alarm dealer can take to prevent false alarms:

  • Are you and others who use the security system fully educated on its proper use?
  • This may include domestic/cleaning crews, children, neighbours, caretakers, employees and temporary staff.
  • Never give a key to someone who isn’t familiar with the system and its operation.
  • If you are apprehensive about using your system, call Aban to get more training.
  • Do preventative maintenance. Have a scheduled annual inspection program with us to ensure proper maintenance and performance of your alarm system. Also, don’t forget to replace your back-up battery every three to five years.
  • Be sure they know your password to cancel a police response if the alarm was set off accidentally.
  • Always keep your “call list” up to date with current phone numbers for you and your contacts. With the right contact information, monitoring stations can be proactive in determining whether or not police should be dispatched.
  • Make sure all protected doors and windows are securely closed and locked.
  • If you are leaving your home or business, make sure the door you leave by is closed and locked.
  • Keep pets, insects, balloons, fans, heaters, etc. away from motion detector areas.
  • Know and rehearse the process to cancel an accidental alarm. Anyone with your key should know this process.
  • Know how much time you have after you arm your system to leave and to disarm your system when you enter.

What do I need a monitoring service for?

There are vulnerabilities in even the safest, most well-monitored areas. Although regular patrolling is an effective deterrent for burglaries, a monitored alarm system is “on call” 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Since most burglaries occur when your home is empty, your security system may not do any good without a monitoring service.

What do we do during renovations?

Notify Aban of your estimated daily activity and work hours. We suggest that you place the system on test in order to ignore signals during working hours. We strongly suggest that you add your workmen to your temporary call list.

What does a motion detector do?

Motion detectors detect temperature changes and changes in heat patterns, as well as movements in its field of view. They sense any changes in rooms, hallways and stairs that may be caused by human presence. Special detectors are available for homes that include pets.

What does an overhead door contact do?

It protects the larger entryways such as a garage and warehouse doors.

What equipment do you use?

Aban uses most internationally known brands of security equipment such as DSC, Honeywell and more. This equipment is reliable and provides us with a wide range of options and features for a variety of projects.

What happens to my security system if I move?

Most security systems we install can be easily moved to a new location. Since hard-wired systems are wired, only the equipment can be moved. If you have a wireless system, all of that can easily move along with you. If you own the equipment, you can include it when selling your home, since a security system does add value to a home for sale.

What happens when my term is up?

It is our goal that Aban provides a level of service that exceeds expectations and provides peace of mind for our customers. Our equipment is user friendly and reliable. While we have an initial term for each agreement, we are confident that our customers have seen significant value and will remain loyal and happy customers for years to come.

What if I am changing my telephone provider?

If you are changing your telephone provider, please verify with the Aban monitoring station that the alarm system is transmitting signals to us before the phone technician leaves your home or business.

What if the power is cut to my house?

Most security systems include a battery backup. These batteries should be checked on a regular basis. As long as the battery backup is functioning properly, your home security system will continue to provide protection for a few hours after the power outage.

What is a false alarm?

A false alarm is any alarm dispatch requested by a monitoring station to the police, fire or any other Emergency Response Personnel departments in which the responding officers find no evidence of a criminal offence, fire, or other emergency situation that was indicated by your alarm system on site.

False alarms continue to be a major concern for police departments, emergency response authorities, the general public and security professionals. They put pressure on police resources and on authorities to manage first responder dispatches. This can result in changes to alarm by-laws and increased false alarm fines for alarm owners. Only by working together can the general public, security professionals and police departments reduce false alarms.

False alarms present a serious threat to the effectiveness of our local police, fire and other Emergency Response Personnel, as well as to the safety of our communities. They are costly and dangerous because they divert police officers from real crime prevention efforts and can delay their response to true emergency situations. They are a nuisance to you and your neighbours. They make your security system less reliable and cost you and your community money.

What is a glass break detector?

Acoustic glass break sensors detect the sound of breaking glass. They can also detect sudden shockwaves of a breaking object, such as glass or a door being kicked in. In this case, it is the shockwave of the breaking glass, not the sound itself, that is being detected. These sensors are suited for large windows, patio doors, sunrooms and places where large bodies of glass exist. They detect glass either breaking or vibrating, and can alert you to an intrusion.

What is a keypad?

The place where the system is armed and disarmed and all the system is controlled and programmed.

What is a monitoring card and a password?

At the time of your monitoring setup, we issued you a few monitoring cards (monitoring station information) that contained the monitoring station phone number, your account number and your password. The password is a secret word or code that you provide to us to be used for identifying yourself with our monitoring station. Without your password we have no way of verifying that you are permitted to be on the premises and to have access to the alarm system. Having this information prevents false alarm dispatches.

What is a security control panel?

The security control panel is the brain and heart of your system. It is where the wiring terminates, and where all the input and output devices, keypads, phone line, backup battery, etc., are connected to. This is the main computer that controls everything on your system.

What is a siren?

A siren is a loudspeaker that, when active, indicates an alarm condition that would not only alert you and your neighbours to an alarm, but also scare off an intruder.

What is a wireless panic button?

It lets you arm and disarm your system and call for help at the touch of a button.

What is a wireless security system?

Modern wireless security systems work on radio frequency and do not require any wiring. Wireless systems are easier to install, more mobile and offer more flexibility within a room or anywhere on a property.

What is an alarm system?

An alarm system is intended to detect a burglary, but will not necessarily prevent one. All security systems receive alarm signals from the detectors and devices (door or window contacts, motion detectors, etc.), setting off the siren. If the alarm is not deactivated, the system will transmit these signals to the monitoring station through the telephone line (if you are monitored).

There are two types of alarms: local (not monitored) and monitored.

The local alarm system only sounds on the premises. Unmonitored home security systems usually rely on neighbours to call the police, which they may or may not do once they hear onsite alarms or see flashing lights. These systems are not as effective, because they depend on the observation skills of neighbours and passersby.

The monitored system is connected to a phone line or a cell phone and notifies our monitoring station when the alarm is tripped, which in turn notifies authorities of a burglary. For an alarm system to be effective it needs to ensure a response occurs when it has been activated; hence, a monitored system has an advantage over a local system. A monitored system is strongly recommended for all homes and businesses.

What is closed circuit TV?

Video cameras connected to a DVR let you see what’s happening on your property whether it’s inside or outside.

What is your service guarantee?

When you purchase our extended coverage on your system, we guarantee that should you ever require service due to ordinary wear and tear, we will repair or replace the equipment free of charge.

What other features can a security system provide me?

Aban’s state of the art security system can offer burglary, fire and life safety detection as well as provide you with automation such as lighting, heating, cooling, shades and security lock control. Communication technologies and the internet allow monitoring and complete control of your system from anywhere in the world.

What should I do if we have terminated an employee?

If the terminated employee has an alarm code and/or a password, please delete the user code and update your user list with Aban by going to our website and filling out the form.

What should we do if we have a power outage?

Notify Aban through our website with your name, address, account number and the date and time of the outage.

What should you do if you accidentally set your alarm off?

You should:

  • Carefully enter your code to disarm your system.
  • Call our monitoring station, give them your password and let them know it is a false alarm
  • Do not leave your home or business until you have talked with your monitoring station! If they do not call you, have the number posted by your keypad and contact them to cancel the police dispatch
  • To cancel an alarm, you must call your monitoring station. DO NOT call 911
  • Whenever your alarm is activated, our monitoring station will call you or other designated persons on your call list first, before the police are notified
  • If you are aware of a problem with the system, you can cancel the police dispatch

When can we make arrangements for a service appointment?

We have on-call technicians 24/7 for emergencies only. Our service people are also available during business hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for any technical questions or any other help you may need with your system. For non-emergency enquiries, please go to our website and fill in the request for service form and we will contact you the next day.

You can always download your user manual from the Customer Care section of our website for any user-related questions.

Why didn’t I get a call from the monitoring station when I accidentally set off my alarm?

  • You switched phone providers and did not verify that they had re-connected the alarm panel to your phones
  • You added a DSL line and did not filter your line for an alarm system
  • You entered your access code and turned the alarm off, thereby cancelling the alarm
  • You set off your alarm right after arming it

Why do I need a security system?

Cases of burglaries and theft are on the rise, which means that more and more property owners are becoming concerned about their families and their properties.

The biggest and most obvious reason for having a home security system is to make your dwelling safer for you, as well as for your family. Research shows that around 90% of burglars have stated they would avoid a house that is protected by a home security system. Monitored security systems can also add value to your home and save you money on your homeowner’s insurance premiums.

A home security system with a monitoring service makes your home a less likely target and reduces the damages caused as a result of break-ins and burglaries.

Keep in mind that there is no security system available that is entirely burglar proof. Having a monitored security system, however, will reduce your chance of being burglarized or becoming a victim of an invasion by 300%.

Many convicted burglars admit that if a home is protected by an electronic security system, they will move on and choose another target.

Why do I need to have stickers and yard signs?

A very important element of having a security system is to have the window stickers and yard sign placed in and around your home or business. These signs have a psychological effect on potential home invaders.

Why do you require a customer to sign an agreement for services?

Because our pricing model bundles our equipment and service offerings as an alternative to higher upfront costs, we require each customer to sign an agreement for services to help recoup our investment in the equipment and services provided.

Why does Aban have an “A+” rating with the BBB?

We believe the BBB rating fairly reflects Aban’s current business practices. We have a 100% satisfaction guaranteed policy on all the services we promise to offer to our customers. We are committed to resolving, to the customer’s and/or BBB’s satisfaction, any issues that may arise in the future.

Why is my keypad beeping and showing trouble?

Your system has a self-diagnostic feature to detect a variety of trouble conditions that may arise from time to time (please refer to your user manual for details). When it detects any trouble, it will notify you by beeping the keypad. In most cases, you will also get a call from our monitoring station. If your keypad is beeping, it needs to be “Acknowledged” through the keypad. The instructions for acknowledging the system troubles are in your user manual under Trouble Conditions. You can download your user manual from the Customer Care section of our website.

If you are having difficulty doing this, please contact our technical support, who will walk you through the process over the phone. Our technical support receives many phone calls during power outages and although we try to help everyone quickly, you may still have a wait time.

Our technical support is available Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 604-983-3880 begin_of_the_skype_highlightingend_of_the_skype_highlighting. If you need immediate assistance on the weekends or after normal business hours, we have on-call technicians that can assist you (please note that there may be additional fees for after hours service).
